When the Democrat Party in Minnesota had total control of the state House, Senate and governorship in 2023, their number one priority was codifying abortion up to birth into law. Tragically, Minnesota now has no gestational limits on abortion. That bill was HF1- the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act. At that time, we wrote:

“Their first order of business in 2023 was to target children for death by codifying into law a “right” to abortion up to the moment of birth without restrictions of any kind. They removed all protections for babies born alive after attempted abortions. If one reviews past reports to the legislature, babies do sometimes survive these brutal assaults on their lives. Now, no life-giving help is required in our state for the youngest, least protected and most vulnerable among us. Minnesota passed some of the most extreme abortion laws in the world.”

Not satisfied with just legalizing the killing of the unborn, they quickly moved to legalize physician assisted suicide in the opening session of 2024, with HF1930. Thankfully, that bill did not pass. But proponents are just waiting for the opportunity to try again.

Because the culture of death is never satisfied.

Three decades ago, Bill and Hillary Clinton advanced the narrative that abortion should be “safe, legal and rare.” Pro-life advocates never believed them, but the public was duped by the meticulously field-tested phrase even though two of those conditions never applied. Abortion is not safe and it’s not rare. A baby always dies, and sometimes the mother does, too. It is estimated that over 65 million American babies have been aborted since it was legalized in 1973. While surgical abortions have declined in number, young women are ordering their abortion-inducing morning-after-pills over the phone and having them delivered to their door. Therefore, mail order abortions have skyrocketed. Many of those young women experience life-threatening complications as well, but those stories never make it into mainstream reporting.

Just as all limits on abortion are systematically being removed, those championing physician assisted suicide are continuously working to remove any restrictions on enabling and mainstreaming suicide.

Canada is leading the charge in physician assisted suicide.

Their program is called MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying). In just 10 years they have moved from “assisting” consenting adults who were dying from incurable or debilitating diseases to advocating for expanding this practice to include children. As Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, a psychiatrist and director at Ethics and Public Policy Center, told The Daily Wire:

There is a kind of gruesome, relentless logic at work here, and this is why the logical “slippery slope” argument is a valid argument, …Once you cross the line of allowing doctors to kill patients, once you cross the line of accepting the basic premise of the euthanasia movement — which is that some lives are not worth living and therefore these people should be killed by the medical profession, then it’s very hard to argue that there should be any limitations.

Two fundamental concepts are driving the pro-abortion and pro-euthanasia movements: “consent” and “mature minors.” Dr. Kheriaty writes:

Advocates for including so-called “mature” minors in the MAiD program argue that children need more autonomy over their health care and note that minors can already consent or refuse certain medical treatments, so including them, they argue, would be consistent. They say it’s about compassion.

“Consenting, mature minors” is just another way of saying “My body, My choice.”

“My body, My choice” is fundamental dogma of the abortion and euthanasia death cults. It grotesquely undergirds Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) curriculum being pushed in Minnesota public schools with little scrutiny. CSE hammers children about their “sexual rights” and “consent.” They are encouraged to “believe” they can be the opposite gender. Gender confused kids are allowed to dictate their plan of care…even if it includes sterilization.

Children who are sexually groomed through CSE, often become the most vulnerable to sexual exploration, exploitation and abuse. They often become confused about their genders, depressed, and suicidal. They often become terrified minors wanting to terminate unwanted pregnancies. They may also become young people suddenly encouraged to “end” their pain in a country like Canada. And these death cults are ready to reel them in.

The “My body, My choice” mantra behind abortion, physician assisted suicide and CSE is not just coincidence. It is by design. Those who fundamentally reject God and the intrinsic value of human life view people and children as utilitarian and disposable at all stages of life. It’s a Marxist worldview, which is officially atheistic. It seeks to destroys what is good, true and beautiful about humanity – life, the family and a culture where both are protected and elevated by God. Man has replaced God as the arbiter of who lives and dies.

“My body, My choice” was sold to the public as a “constitutional right.” At the time, “science” couldn’t prove that unborn babies were much more than a blob of flesh. Now, visual observation and scientific studies prove this beyond a shadow of a doubt. Babies have their own DNA. They are living humans. But tragically, during this time, our culture became indifferent to the slaughter of millions of babies, because it was busy haggling over the “acceptable” number of gestational weeks an abortion should be legal. So culture wasn’t brought to its knees when the slogan became “shout your abortion.” The mask came off, but did people really see?

Let’s not be fooled by the euphemisms promoting physician assisted suicide. It is not “compassionate care.” It is not “health services.” It is not “dying with dignity.” As Dr. Kheriaty writes, we must shift the narrative:

And we have to respond, rather than abandoning the patient by saying, “Yes, here’s the poison pill,” or, “I’ll administer the poison injection to you.” We have to respond by saying, “No, it’s a privilege to care for you.” It’s a privilege to walk with you through what might be the final stage of your life — in the cases where someone has been diagnosed with the terminal illness. Or, it’s a privilege to care for you if you’ve been diagnosed with a mental illness and maybe it’s been difficult to treat. Let’s continue to work to find ways to treat this.

Just as we must embrace the privilege of caring for the sick, the old and the infirm, in the same way we must embrace the privilege of caring for the unborn—whether the child is wanted or not. Young or old – every life is a gift from God. A life that is created in His image and likeness.

We must pay attention. We must reject this culture of death on every level. We must be able to recognize the words being used to deceive us. And we must defend the most vulnerable among us.

That’s why CPL advocates for issues that impact children and families. We advocate for policies which strengthen the family and protect children from harm and exploitation. We embrace God’s perfect design for the family which is one man and one woman raising their children together.

Please join us in this effort. It’s a worthy calling.
