Ways to Take Action

The following are suggestions for ways to stand against drag queens from being allowed to read LGBT+ and transgender books to children in libraries and schools.

  • Find out if your library or school has hosted Drag Queen Story Hours.
Contact your school administrators and school boards! Contact the library directors, the library board members as well as the American Library Association (ALA) with your concerns.
  • Inform your legislative candidates.
Find out if they can tell you why publicly funded libraries and schools are no longer a safe place for children!
  • Apply to serve on the library board or run for school board.
Example: In Hennepin County MN, applications are being taken for library board members until December 31. Interviews and appointments are decided by the Hennepin County Commissioners.
