This Fall in Minnesota, K-12 Social Studies Will Be Taught Through the Lens of Colonialism, Oppression, and Personal Power Struggles…not Geography.
The Center of the American Experiment just released an excellent 3-minute explanation about the “transformation” of Minnesota social studies curriculum into lessons about activism.
Minnesota’s children can barely read and write or solve simple math problems. In 2025, “less than half of all Minnesota students tested as grade-level proficient on either math or reading state tests.” Our scores have been steadily declining for 10 years. The Annie E. Casey Foundation, a well-respected non-profit which produces an annual report called Kids Count, ranked Minnesota #21 nationally in 2026 in education-down from #17 just 5 years ago. With these abysmal indicators, one might wonder why our education system has taken such a hard left turn in social studies.
It follows the plan. The new, radical social studies mandate was passed during the 2023 trifecta when the Democrat party had control of all three Minnesota legislative bodies: the House, the Senate, and the Governorship. But leftists have controlled Minnesota’s educational system for decades and have been incrementally transforming the purpose of education away from teaching academic knowledge and skills to indoctrinating students into a revolutionary worldview. With the passage of the new Ethnic Studies mandate in the social studies curriculum, the revolutionary goals became immediately overt and comprehensive. This Ethic Studies content, starting in the 2026 school year, is mandated for every Minnesota public school.
Child Protection League has carefully tracked that Marxification of our educational system since 2013.
For example, CPL’s website has detailed research and presentations about the historical infiltration of education by Marxists and Marxist ideologies.
You will find detailed analyses about how Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Cultural Competency Training are all focused on “equity” outcomes..meaning equal outcomes not equal opportunities. In fact, they create a perverse, reverse discrimination which excludes and shames children who do not belong to a “marginalized” group.
CPL has exposed how individual and personal responsibility and accountability have been replaced with “group identities” of the so-called “privileged” and “victims.”
We exposed Drag Queen Story Hours. Grown men in caked on make-up, dressed in grotesque and sexually suggestive female clothing, dance and prance and read books to little children about fluid genders. Riddle us this? When was the last time any of you put on a slutty dress to read to your children or grandchildren? The answer is NEVER because you aren’t trying to sexually groom your children!
We exposed Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) as a self-described vehicle for “social change” which pollutes the minds of our children with sexually explicit, pornographic, and boundary erasing curriculum, books and how-to guides.
CSE also teaches kids starting in preschool that changing or creating any gender identity is normal. Gender confusion is embedded in CSE. It forces all students to participate in the gender delusions too by requiring them to accept the false identities of their peers.
CPL revealed how schools are hiding the gender transitions of children from their parents.
CPL unmasked the new Minnesota Teacher Licensing Rules which require teachers to affirm and teach all the Marxist dogmas listed above in order to be certified to teach in Minnesota public schools.
CPL showed how SEL is the delivery system of all the Marxist ideologies straight into the emotional and psychological development of every student.
CPL exposed the American Library Association as a central force to transform public and school libraries into gender-radical indoctrination centers.
And this is not a complete list.
Again, why such intentional indoctrination? What is the purpose?
Take a look at the recent covers of two major educational resources. Notice the raised fists and cries for social justice? (“Social Justice” is a perversion of genuine justice as stated in the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution that secures equal protection to all individuals. Social Justice judges individuals according to whether they are part of a “marginalized” group or a “privileged” group, not by their individual actions.)
Notice the language in some of the endorsements on the back cover of Teachers Unions and Social Justice.
These “educational leaders” are not calling for improving academic achievement. They are calling for activism. Why?
An educated populace that knows and value their history and the history of the world, who read independently, think logically, are skilled at calculating and love their country cannot be easily manipulated. The new social studies standards train students to deconstruct, devalue, and take action. This is not education. It is transforming our young people into controllable activists who will accomplish the cultural revolution. And it is no longer by stealth.
It’s summer in Minnesota now, the best time of the year. Please spend some time considering and investigating educational options for your child outside of the public school system. Right now, the ENTIRE system is fundamentally aligned with values, attitudes and beliefs that hate America, all her institutions, all her traditions, and all the ideas and values which made America the greatest country on the face of the earth. The “system” is opposed to all that is true, good and beautiful about life, liberty and truth as well.
It’s a toxic potion. Don’t let your children drink it.
