Request a Public Hearing on the Minnesota Health Standards

The July 14th email, Minnesota Health Standards Violate Federal Law, raised some questions.

Question 1: Besides comments, what else can we do?

Answer: Please request a public hearing. The proposed standards will not receive a public hearing unless at least 25 people request one. Use the Public Comment form that walks you through a number of questions, Health Survey Draft 2. The deadline for public comment on Draft 2 is Friday, July 18th. In the ending comments, simply say: I request a public hearing on the Draft 2, Minnesota Health Standards

Question 2: Why should we oppose the health standards if they are already against the law, as stated in your article?

Answer: We must force change. Because so many violations are currently embedded in state statute, Minnesota is openly defying federal law, the U.S. Constitution and the Supreme Court. This must change, and it will require a massive restructuring of state law and policy.

For example, the America First Policy Institute formally warned Governor Walz that they are ready to pursue legal action against Minnesota’s Department of Human Service’s Affirmative Action Program “for myriad of unlawful policies.” They wrote, “In the name of the law and justice, you must rescind this policy.”

This blatant racial discrimination by a state is grievously illegal and must be rescinded. If not, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) stands ready to support the claims of any plaintiff wrongfully denied employment because of Minnesota’s unconstitutional policies… DHS’s appears to be completely ignoring the “supreme Law of the Land” through its affirmative action policies.

In fact, state statute §43A.191 established this ideological employment litmus test for counties, cities, and large employers in 1987. Minnesota has been a cesspool of corruption ever since. For this reason, the U.S. DOJ has also launched an investigation into this practice.

The legal challenges in these DEI cases are moving forward. The Comprehensive Sex Ed standards embedded in Minnesota’s schools must be challenged the same way through public demand and DOJ involvement. SCOTUS just made a clear ruling that practices such as requiring “LGBTQ+-inclusive” instruction, which, among other things, suggested that teachers should “[d]isrupt” their students’ “either/or thinking” about sexuality and gender” violate parents’ religious beliefs and their free exercise of religion. Changing that will also require a massive restructuring of Minnesota statute and policy.

Until these issues are successfully addressed through DOJ challenges, legal complaints and withholding of federal funding, our children will continue being subjected to these insidious and destructive programs.

Therefore, we should object, protest and resist at every level, in every district, in every school, and in every classroom. We can be confident that its end is in sight. Our voices and actions will create the cultural shift that has to happen in our state as we move through these precarious times.

Question 3: “The standards framework is based on the National Health Education Standards (NHES)” (p. 5 of the Health Standards, Draft 2). So why are we critiquing the National Sexuality Education Standards (NSES)?

Answer: The National Health Education Standards are a product of the Society of Health and Physical Educators, known as SHAPE America. During the Obama presidency, Michelle Obama collaborated with this organization. Many parent groups have been assured that Shape America and itshealth standards are top notch. The truth is that its sex education section is directly modeled after the radical National Sex Education Standards (NSES).

Just like SHAPE, Minnesota’s proposed Health Education Standards, Draft 2, perfectly reflect the content and ideology of the NSES. These standards and ideologies violate Minnesota parents’ right to teach and practice their religious beliefs. Minnesota will have to do better.
