Minnesota legislation banning religious colleges from PSEO participation still pending in court.

The 2023 Minnesota legislature passed extremely discriminatory legislation that barred Christian colleges from participating in the Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program if they require a statement of faith. The clearly unconstitutional law reads:

An eligible institution must not require a faith statement during the application process or base any part of the admission decision on a student’s race, creed, ethnicity, disability, gender, or sexual orientation or religious beliefs or affiliations.

Christian parents, Crown College and Northwestern University in St. Paul immediately filed a lawsuit in federal court “challenging an amendment to Minnesota law that strips some religious universities of their ability to offer free on-campus college credits to high school students.” Religious parents & schools take state to court for punishing religious education

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison responded to the lawsuit by agreeing to a preliminary injunction, meaning the state will “not enforce the law while the case is ongoing. Minnesota schools now have the freedom to continue shaping their campus environments according to their religious beliefs, and students have the choice of an education that aligns with their beliefs.” BREAKING: Minnesota pauses attack on faith-based education

However, the case is still pending in federal court.

On September 3, 2024, the plaintiffs filed a memo requesting a “summary judgment,” asking the judge to rule that there is no real dispute about the facts, and the plaintiffs are entitled to win the case.

On September 10, 2024, Gender Justice—a well-funded, hyper-aggressive Minnesota advocacy law firm that litigates for a radical redefinition of gender in Minnesota law, policies, schools, and workplaces—filed an Amicus Brief in the case.

Gender Justice is advocating for the Minnesota District Court to affirm that religious exemptions cannot override the rights of LGBTQ+ students in publicly funded educational settings.

Excluding Christian colleges from the popular PSEO program is but one example of a string of efforts by Governor Tim Walz to remove religious liberty in Minnesota:

1. New teacher licensing mandates that violate religious beliefs
Minnesota Poised To Ban Christians, Muslims, and Jews From Teaching In Public Schools;

2. Stripping away religious exemptions for gender identity mandates;

3. Pending Minnesota constitutional Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) protecting gender identity but not religious exemptions;

4. Criminalizing faith-based counselling about gender identity
Minnesota is a Dangerous Place For Children;

5. Forcing anti-Christian radical gender ideology into the classrooms that violate religious beliefs
Religious Freedom in Minnesota and Religious Ideology Grips Minnesota;

6. Taking custody of minors away from parents who do not affirm their child’s gender identity choices based on their religious beliefs

Minnesota has installed a well-oiled political machine that is indoctrinating our children, disrupting our families, attacking our religious liberties, stirring hatred, and pitting our people against one another. Why?

Trevor Loudon—author, filmmaker and expert on radical left and Marxist political influence—in his forthcoming book, Stealth: Kamala Harris’s Communist Roots, includes a special section about Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. He joined Liz Collin in an interview to preview that book and stated,

“You can understand why the DEI policies, the indoctrination, the left-wing politically correct policies are being shoved down your throats in Minnesota because you are ground zero for American Maoism.”

Heads up Minnesota! Walz and his kind are cultural revolutionaries who hate America and what America represents. Instead, they are “transforming” us into their vision of a socialist/Marxist/Communist utopia. To be successful, they must crush religious freedom because it’s the most significant force blocking their revolution.

Stay tuned for the ongoing litigation in federal court because this battle is far from over.
