How Safe Are “Mental Health” Interventions for Kids?

December 19, 2025

Do you know that no research has ever been conducted on the interaction between psychotropic drugs in children (including common ADHD, anti-anxiety drugs and anti-depressants) and gender hormones?

Yet over 6 million American school children are on these types of drugs.

Parents are increasingly alarmed – rightly so-  that their children are being diagnosed and headed for lifetime dependence on psychiatric drugs with little understanding about the effects, contra-indications and consequences of these medications.

Sheila Matthews of AbleChild was CPL’s first guest in our Speaker Series. It was a powerful ZOOM interview on Thursday, December 11th, 2025.

Below is an excerpt:

The full interview is available at the link below. We encourage you to listen to the full hour. [Click on the picture.]

Some of the questions Sheila answered were:

  • How reliable are these diagnoses and who determines them?
  • How do school psychologists and the Association of School Psychologists impact the mental health of our children in schools?
  • When making mental health diagnoses, what criteria are used and how are children assessed?
  • What is the relationship between today’s mental health industry and the ideology of Diversity-Equity-Inclusion (DEI)? Are ideological programs pushed on kids through psychiatry?
  • How are Social Emotional Learning (SEL) assessments using psychology?

She also recommended model state and federal legislation to address the problem and provided tips for parents.

We encourage you to join AbleChild’s efforts to secure informed consent and protect parental rights. The Petition to Congress link is available for your signature:

Tell Congress to hold hearings on the link between psychotropic drugs, suicides, and mass shootings. The people have the right to know the mental health treatments that were involved in all mass murders.  We demand equal access to the lawmaking process.
