This book encourages children to embrace courage, take on new challenges and trust in their abilities

CHAMPLIN, Minn. – Children’s book author Barbara Anderson is back in the literary scene with another delightful treat for young readers titled “Eli the Eagle” (published by Archway Publishing).

This charming book tells the story of a contented eaglet named Eli who does not want to leave his cozy nest. Warm, comfortable, and well-fed, Eli faces a challenge when his mother and father eagle encourage him to spread his wings and discover the world beyond the nest. Courage comes when he finally learns the meaning of his name.

“Eli the Eagle” is written in rhyme, making it a fun and engaging read-aloud experience for parents and children alike. With each turn of the page, children will enjoy watching Eli’s feathers change color as he grows from an eaglet to a fledgling to an adult bird. The book also includes fun eagle jokes, a drawing challenge, and a butterfly hunt within the vibrant watercolor illustrations by Amy Thelen. Additionally, eagle photography at the end of the book adds a special touch.

At the heart of “Eli the Eagle” is a powerful message about the importance of courage in the face of fear. When asked what she wants readers to take away, the author says, “I want readers to be inspired to have the courage to try something new—to try their wings—and not let fear hold them back.”
