Dear CPL supporter,
The Child Protection League is asking you to consider us for your 2025 year end giving. You can be confident your support is consistently used to equip and educate parents and the public with factual information, not hyperbole. The following is a perfect example of why it’s a smart investment to support our work.
In November, CPL received the following email.
I attended a presentation at the —— Community Center April of 2024. Here I learned what you have on your website about mn teaching licensing that all teachers who want to teach have to put down their belief in God and take up Marxism ideology. I’ve spoken to public and private schools and none of them state this is true. Can you explain?
This was our response to her inquiry:
As of July 1, 2025, in order to become certified to teach in a Minnesota public school, an applicant must meet the Minnesota Standards of Effective Practice. Rather than asking other people what they think is true, as people are often misinformed or uninformed, we recommend you go to the standards directly. These articles may be of assistance:

Her response back to us was telling: “Shouldn’t a current teacher, principal, or superintendent know this?”
She is correct and she asked a fundamental question! Why don’t the “people in charge” know these things? Why aren’t they telling parents? Our response to her question explained why:
At this point, the new licensing standards don’t apply to current teachers (though we expect they will ultimately be applied to recertification), so most teachers, principals, and superintendents have no idea what the actual content of the new standards is. Who will tell them? They are notified through official communications from the Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB), which gives, of course, nothing of the information CPL has exposed.
The colleges and universities that train teachers know. Most of them have no problem with any of this. In fact, most of them are already implementing this ideology in their teacher training programs and have been for some time. For the more conservative higher ed colleges, they are unwilling to object for fear of losing their certification to train and license teachers. Some of them claim they won’t comply and will wait for the state to enforce the new standards. For the time being, the state appears to be looking the other way on enforcing Christian schools. That won’t last, of course. And it leaves their graduates unprepared to teach what K-12 schools expect their certified teachers to be prepared to teach.
However, we expect a lawsuit will ultimately be filed against the Minnesota education department for violating the constitutional right of teachers to the free exercise of their religion. This is a violation of the conscience and freedom of belief of the rights of any teacher.
I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Julie Quist, Child Protection LeagueDirector of Research
We at CPL provide information that is unavailable elsewhere. Our information is based on evidence because we analyze what they publish. For example, the following screen shots are taken directly from the PELSB document.
The new standards absolutely demand teachers to teach Marxist ideology. Note the DEI code language throughout. Gender identity and sexual orientation must be affirmed and incorporated into the classroom. Ethnocentrism and eurocentrism, America’s primary cultural heritage, is demeaned as white supremacy. Races and genders are set against each other.
Still, education employees, administration and most school board members are, for the most part, in the dark. As reflected in the above email exchange, parents and the public expect the “experts” to know all this. In reality, they do not, and policies are implemented either without adequate knowledge or with intentional deception.
Public PreK-12 schools are indoctrinating our children into a destructive, false, woke worldview and we are challenging them. Last April, CPL filed a formal complaint with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) against the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and its Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) for discrimination on the basis of race and on the basis of sex in Minnesota’s teacher licensing standards, the Minnesota Standards of Effective Practice (SEP). We will let you know how and when the DOE responds. Unfortunately, the wheels of Justice move slowly, especially under Minnesota’s increasingly exposed corrupt political leadership.
But CPL is going to see this through. Please support us at this critical moment. The battle is becoming fiercer, but we will not shrink back from sharing and explaining the truth.
Child Protection League is action oriented, but not tax-deductible. CPL Education is our tax-deductible research and program arm. We hope you will consider both in your year-end giving. Thank you!
