Public Hearing Scheduled on Revised Minnesota Social Studies Standards

Time to weigh in!
A public hearing before an administrative law judge on the proposed revised social studies standards (PDF download) is scheduled for November 8th, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and November 9th, 1:00 pm to 4:15 pm.
The deadline to send in comments is this Wednesday, October 25th at 4:30 pm.

Tim Walz’s Department of Education is trying to convince an administrative law judge that their re-write of standards is “needed” and “reasonable.”
They’re not.
Bureaucrats at MDE are arguing for a “shift away” from standards “that list a set of content students are expected to know” to standards that focus “on the underlying concepts and skills” of social studies education.
In other words, Critical Race Theory is more important than facts!
Take Action Now!
1. Sign the petition to Judge Lipman that standards should be “clear and concise, focus on facts, and avoid divisive and political language,” and
2. Submit a written comment to Judge Lipman. He needs to hear from you. Post your comment by 4:30 pm on Wednesday, October 25th through the Office of Administrative Hearings.
